Auxiliary boilers, composite boilers, exhaust-gas economisers, thermal-oil systems, and waste-heat units combine pressure parts, combustion equipment, controls, and safety devices. Survey and maintenance context

Class rules define survey intervals according to boiler type, pressure, age, and survey scheme. Internal examinations are often scheduled on a multi-year cycle, with increased attention as equipment ages, while safety valves, low-water protection, flame safeguards, alarms, and shutdowns require regular operational testing. Maker instructions, planned-maintenance history, water chemistry, and observed performance should guide work between formal surveys. The attending class society determines opening-up, test pressure, NDT, and acceptance requirements.

• Combustion inspection, burner cleaning and adjustment, ignition and flame-failure testing, and fuel-system checks
• Gas-side and water-side cleaning, tube and tube-plate inspection, thickness measurements, and leak investigation
• Inspection of refractory, casing, uptake, expansion joints, soot blowers, mountings, gauges, controls, and feed systems
• Safety-valve overhaul or setting support, alarm and trip testing, and combustion-performance measurements
• Tube plugging or renewal, welding coordination, pressure testing, service report, and survey documentation

Scope the attendance safely

Send equipment maker, model, working pressure, fuel, drawings, class status, last survey report, water-treatment history, running symptoms, alarm logs, known leaks, required repairs, and port schedule. Confirm shutdown, cooling, isolation, draining, ventilation, enclosed-space controls, hot-work permits, spares, and class attendance. Pressure parts and safety devices should only be repaired or adjusted by competent personnel under the applicable approval and survey process.
