15 ppm bilge alarm and oil content monitor calibration
The oil content monitor (OCM) is a critical part of the oily-water separator discharge arrangement. It measures oil content, records operating data, activates the 15 ppm alarm, and initiates recirculation or automatic stopping when discharge water exceeds the permitted limit. Calibration and functional testing help demonstrate that the monitor, sample line, alarm, recorder, and stopping device operate together rather than as isolated components.
MARPOL survey context
MARPOL Annex I regulation 14 and IMO resolution MEPC.107(49) govern 15 ppm bilge separators and alarm arrangements on applicable ships. The calibration status may be reviewed during IOPP surveys and Port State Control inspections.
